Family homes and evening use
Much of Tuggeranong was built from the 1970s to the 1990s, with family homes on decent-sized blocks. Evenings are when these homes use the most power, for cooking, heating, screens and laundry, and that is when a battery pays its way. We size the battery from your bills so it covers your evenings without paying for capacity you won’t use.
Winter sizing
Canberra winters are cold and frosty, and heating is often the biggest part of the bill. We look at your winter use as well as summer when sizing solar and storage, and install batteries in a garage or sheltered wall so the cold doesn’t cut their capacity. Older switchboards are checked before a battery or EV charger goes in.
Connecting to the grid
Every Canberra home connects to the Evoenergy network. Evoenergy approves the connection and sets an export limit for your system; we lodge the application on your behalf and design to the limit it approves.
Rebates and pricing
Website prices apply as they stand everywhere in Canberra: the packages and prices on this site are what you pay here, before any changes you ask for.
Every Canberra home gets the federal support: small-scale technology certificates (STCs) come off the price of solar panels, and the Cheaper Home Batteries Program takes a tiered amount off an approved battery. Both are applied on your quote, so there is nothing to claim afterwards.
ACT homes can also spread the cost of a battery, EV charger or heat pump hot water with a Sustainable Household Scheme loan: $2,000 to $20,000 at 3% over up to 10 years, through Brighte (rooftop solar on its own isn’t eligible). Owner-occupiers with a Pensioner Concession, DVA Gold or Health Care Card may also qualify for the Home Energy Support Program, which covers half the cost of rooftop solar up to $2,500. Our incentives page has the current details, and your quote shows each discount as its own line.

Common questions
What size battery does a Tuggeranong family home need?
It depends on your evenings, so we work it out from your bills rather than guessing. Our most-installed system pairs 13.3 kW of solar with a 27 kWh SigenStor, but plenty of homes need less.
Is 30 km too far for website prices?
No. All of Canberra, including Tuggeranong, is inside the zone where our website prices apply as they stand.
Can I use the Sustainable Household Scheme loan for solar?
Not for solar panels on their own. The loan covers batteries, EV chargers, heat pump hot water and other electric upgrades, so many people use federal discounts for the solar and the loan for the battery.
Who approves my solar connection?
Evoenergy, the network for all of Canberra. We lodge the connection application for you and design the system to the export limit Evoenergy approves.
