Solar and batteries in Belconnen

Belconnen is about 10 km from our Mitchell workshop. From Dunlop and Macgregor to Aranda and Evatt, we install solar, batteries, EV chargers and heat pump hot water across the district, at our website prices.
In short
- Belconnen is about 10 km from our workshop, and website prices apply across the district.
- Much of Belconnen was built between the late 1960s and the 1990s, so we check the switchboard before adding a battery or EV charger.
- Established trees mean shade matters; we design around it and use panel-level optimisers where they pay off.

What we install in Belconnen
- Rooftop solar with Jinko and AIKO panels and GoodWe, Sungrow or Sigenergy inverters
- Home batteries from Sigenergy, Tesla Powerwall 3 and GoodWe, added to new or existing solar
- EV chargers, single-phase or three-phase, set up to charge from your solar
- Heat pump hot water from iStore and Reclaim, replacing old electric or gas units
- Off-grid and backup systems for properties at the end of long lines or beyond the grid
- Commercial solar for sheds, shops, offices and farms
Older switchboards and established trees
Many homes in suburbs like Aranda, Hawker, Page and Scullin still have their original switchboards. A battery or EV charger often needs a switchboard upgrade first, and we price that as its own line so there are no surprises.
Mature street trees and gardens are part of what makes these suburbs pleasant, but they shade roofs. We map the shade at the quote stage and, where it pays off, add panel-level optimisers such as Tigo so one shaded panel doesn’t drag down the rest.
A recent Belconnen project
In Dunlop we installed 12.42 kW of REC Alpha Pure-RX panels on all-black racking with a Tesla Powerwall 3, on a double-storey home. Three essential circuits stay on in a blackout, and the job included the meter upgrade and grid connection. See the project.
Connecting to the grid
Every Canberra home connects to the Evoenergy network. Evoenergy approves the connection and sets an export limit for your system; we lodge the application on your behalf and design to the limit it approves.
Rebates and pricing
Website prices apply as they stand everywhere in Canberra: the packages and prices on this site are what you pay here, before any changes you ask for.
Every Canberra home gets the federal support: small-scale technology certificates (STCs) come off the price of solar panels, and the Cheaper Home Batteries Program takes a tiered amount off an approved battery. Both are applied on your quote, so there is nothing to claim afterwards.
ACT homes can also spread the cost of a battery, EV charger or heat pump hot water with a Sustainable Household Scheme loan: $2,000 to $20,000 at 3% over up to 10 years, through Brighte (rooftop solar on its own isn’t eligible). Owner-occupiers with a Pensioner Concession, DVA Gold or Health Care Card may also qualify for the Home Energy Support Program, which covers half the cost of rooftop solar up to $2,500. Our incentives page has the current details, and your quote shows each discount as its own line.

Common questions
Will I need a switchboard upgrade?
Often, in older Belconnen homes, if you are adding a battery or EV charger. We check it at the quote stage and show any upgrade as its own line on the price.
Can I get solar if trees shade my roof?
Usually. We map the shade, put panels where the sun is, and use panel-level optimisers where a little shade would otherwise cost you output.
Can I use the Sustainable Household Scheme loan for solar?
Not for solar panels on their own. The loan covers batteries, EV chargers, heat pump hot water and other electric upgrades, so many people use federal discounts for the solar and the loan for the battery.
Who approves my solar connection?
Evoenergy, the network for all of Canberra. We lodge the connection application for you and design the system to the export limit Evoenergy approves.
Your next step
Tell us your address and roughly what you spend on power, and mention any big trees. We will come back with a design and an itemised price.
