Installation, explained

FROM FIRST CONVERSATION TO HANDOVER

A clear process makes it easier to know what happens next. This is how a solar, battery, EV charger or heat pump installation usually runs. Your quote confirms the schedule and inclusions for your project.

How it works

01 · Understand the site

Review usage, existing equipment, roof or mounting space, electrical supply and your goals. A recent bill and photos of your switchboard and meter help.

02 · Confirm the scope

Review the proposed equipment, installation work, approvals, costs and any exclusions before booking. Your written quote shows each incentive applied.

03 · Approvals

Grid-connected systems may need approval from your electricity network before installation: Evoenergy in the ACT, and usually Essential Energy in regional NSW. Your quote says which approvals apply and who lodges them.

04 · Installation day

The installers confirm the layout with you, install and wire the equipment, then test and commission it. Power is usually off for part of the day, and they need access to the roof, switchboard and meter.

05 · Handover and monitoring

Ask for commissioning records, monitoring access, operating instructions, warranties and support contacts.

Questions to ask before installation

  • Who coordinates any network approvals?
  • What access is needed, and will there be a power outage?
  • What happens if additional work is identified, such as a switchboard upgrade?
  • Which circuits will have backup power, if any?
  • How is the system monitored, and who can see the data?

More answers in our FAQs.

Paperwork to keep

  • Your electrical safety certificate: a Certificate of Electrical Safety in the ACT, or a Certificate of Compliance for Electrical Work (CCEW) in NSW.
  • Product warranties, with serial numbers and the installation date.
  • Your invoice, showing any certificate (STC) discount applied.
  • Your monitoring login and the commissioning records.
  • Any network approval or meter change confirmation.
