Solar and batteries in Canberra’s inner north

The inner north is about 11 km from our Mitchell workshop. We install solar, batteries, EV chargers and heat pump hot water in Ainslie, Braddon, Dickson, Lyneham, O’Connor, Turner and the suburbs around them, from heritage-era houses to new apartments.
In short
- Website prices apply across the inner north.
- On heritage-listed homes and in heritage precincts, panel placement can need heritage advice. We check before we design.
- For apartments and townhouses we work with your owners corporation on approval.

What we install in the inner north
- Rooftop solar with Jinko and AIKO panels and GoodWe, Sungrow or Sigenergy inverters
- Home batteries from Sigenergy, Tesla Powerwall 3 and GoodWe, added to new or existing solar
- EV chargers, single-phase or three-phase, set up to charge from your solar
- Heat pump hot water from iStore and Reclaim, replacing old electric or gas units
- Off-grid and backup systems for properties at the end of long lines or beyond the grid
- Commercial solar for sheds, shops, offices and farms
Older homes, heritage streets and apartments
The inner north has some of Canberra’s oldest homes. Older houses often need a switchboard upgrade before a battery or EV charger goes in, and we show that as its own line on the price.
Some homes are heritage-listed or sit in heritage precincts, where panels visible from the street may need advice from the ACT Heritage Council. We check the listing before we design and, where we can, place panels on roof faces that can’t be seen from the street.
Apartments and townhouses along the light rail corridor need owners corporation approval before work starts. We provide the drawings and documents the committee asks for.
Connecting to the grid
Every Canberra home connects to the Evoenergy network. Evoenergy approves the connection and sets an export limit for your system; we lodge the application on your behalf and design to the limit it approves.
Rebates and pricing
Website prices apply as they stand everywhere in Canberra: the packages and prices on this site are what you pay here, before any changes you ask for.
Every Canberra home gets the federal support: small-scale technology certificates (STCs) come off the price of solar panels, and the Cheaper Home Batteries Program takes a tiered amount off an approved battery. Both are applied on your quote, so there is nothing to claim afterwards.
ACT homes can also spread the cost of a battery, EV charger or heat pump hot water with a Sustainable Household Scheme loan: $2,000 to $20,000 at 3% over up to 10 years, through Brighte (rooftop solar on its own isn’t eligible). Owner-occupiers with a Pensioner Concession, DVA Gold or Health Care Card may also qualify for the Home Energy Support Program, which covers half the cost of rooftop solar up to $2,500. Our incentives page has the current details, and your quote shows each discount as its own line.

Common questions
Do I need heritage approval for solar in the inner north?
Only some homes. If your home is heritage-listed or in a heritage precinct, panels visible from the street may need ACT Heritage Council advice. We check this for you before we design.
Can I get an EV charger in an apartment car space?
Often, with owners corporation approval. It depends on the building’s switchboard and how car spaces are metered, so we look at the building first.
Can I use the Sustainable Household Scheme loan for solar?
Not for solar panels on their own. The loan covers batteries, EV chargers, heat pump hot water and other electric upgrades, so many people use federal discounts for the solar and the loan for the battery.
Who approves my solar connection?
Evoenergy, the network for all of Canberra. We lodge the connection application for you and design the system to the export limit Evoenergy approves.
Your next step
Tell us your address, whether the home is heritage-listed, and roughly what you spend on power. We will come back with a design and an itemised price.
