Why we install it
Our take on AIKO.
AIKO puts all of the cell wiring on the back, so more of the front catches light and the panel looks clean from the street. Where roof space is tight or looks matter, it is the panel we suggest first, and it holds its output well on hot Canberra summer days.
What they make: N-type ABC (all-back-contact) modules only in Australia: Neostar for residential, Comet for commercial, plus utility-scale lines. No inverters or batteries are sold in Australia.
- 1
About 25% module efficiency in the 500 W class.
- 2
Loses less in the heat than most panels (−0.26% per °C).
- 3
An Australian office in Melbourne handles warranty claims.

Where they stand
Upper-mid pushing premium, and the evidence is unusually strong for a brand this new. 1st in the 2026 SolarQuotes Installer's Choice Awards with 28% of 125 installer votes, its second consecutive win; EUPD Research 'Top Brand PV 2026 Australia'; BloombergNEF Tier 1. AIKO's own claim of roughly 20% of monthly Australian solar proposals nationally (June 2026) is a company figure, not independently audited.
The warranty, in practice
25-year product and 30-year performance on the Neostar residential range (Comet commercial is 15-year product). Degradation 1% in year one then 0.35%/yr, leaving about 88.85% at year 30. No registration requirement.
Who it suits
Households with limited, complex or partially-shaded roof space — a chimney, a vent stack, a neighbour's tree — where squeezing more watts into fewer square metres genuinely pays, and buyers who want the all-black look on a street-facing roof.
What to watch
Two and a half years in Australia is not long enough to know how a 25-year warranty behaves — nobody has yet tested AIKO's claims process at volume or over time, and the legal warrantor is a Chinese entity with the Melbourne office as service agent. SolarQuotes' real-world testing also found the shade-tolerance advantage is 'considerably less than Aiko has claimed', so do not pay a premium purely on the shade story.
