Solar and batteries in Queanbeyan

Service areas / Queanbeyan

Service area33 km from our Mitchell baseEssential Energy network

Illustration of a home with rooftop solar panels, a wall battery and an electric car, for Queanbeyan, Jerrabomberra and Googong

Queanbeyan is 33 km from our Mitchell workshop, close enough that our website prices apply as they stand. We design and install rooftop solar, home batteries, EV chargers and heat pump hot water across Queanbeyan, Jerrabomberra, Googong, Sutton, Gundaroo and the rural blocks in between.

In short

  • Website prices apply in Queanbeyan, Jerrabomberra, Googong, Sutton and Gundaroo, with no distance loading.
  • Homes here are on the Essential Energy network, not Evoenergy. We handle the connection application and the export limit that comes with it.
  • The federal solar and battery discounts apply exactly as in Canberra. ACT loans don’t, so we show you the NSW options instead.

What we install in Queanbeyan

Our own licensed team does the design, installation, commissioning and network paperwork. We don’t subcontract it out, so the people who quote your system are the people who look after it.

Installing on the NSW side of the border

Queanbeyan, Jerrabomberra and Googong look like Canberra suburbs, but the paperwork is different. Your home connects to the Essential Energy network, which sets its own connection rules and export limits. We lodge the application on your behalf and design the system to the limit your network approves, so there are no surprises after installation.

On the larger blocks around Wamboin, Carwoola, Burra and Royalla, we check the supply type and whether the land is mapped as bushfire-prone before we design. Both shape where the equipment can go and how much the system can export, and both are easier to plan for at the quote stage than on installation day.

Rebates and pricing for Queanbeyan homes

Website prices apply as they stand in Queanbeyan and the towns around it. The packages and prices you see on this site are what you pay here, before any personal changes to the design.

Every NSW home gets the same federal support as Canberra: small-scale technology certificates (STCs) come off the price of solar panels, and the Cheaper Home Batteries Program takes a tiered amount off an approved battery. Both are applied on your quote, so there is nothing to claim afterwards.

NSW’s upfront battery installation incentive has been closed to households since July 2025. What NSW does offer is a one-off incentive when you sign a battery up to a virtual power plant (VPP), and discounts on eligible heat pump hot water through the NSW Energy Savings Scheme. The ACT’s Sustainable Household Scheme loans are for ACT homes only. Our incentives page has the current figures, and your quote shows each discount as its own line.

A recent Queanbeyan project

In October 2024 we installed a 39.4 kW commercial system on Crawford Street, Queanbeyan: 83 Jinko Tiger Neo panels on tilt frames, a 29.9 kW GoodWe hybrid inverter, 28.8 kWh of GoodWe battery storage and Tigo monitoring on every panel. See the project.

Bungendore and Bywong have their own page.

Common questions

Are your prices the same in Queanbeyan as in Canberra?

Yes. Queanbeyan, Jerrabomberra, Googong, Sutton and Gundaroo are all inside the zone where our website prices apply as they stand.

Can I use the ACT Sustainable Household Scheme loan in Queanbeyan?

No. The scheme is for ACT homes only. Queanbeyan homes get the same federal solar and battery discounts as Canberra, and NSW adds a one-off incentive if you sign your battery up to a virtual power plant.

Who approves my solar connection in Queanbeyan?

Essential Energy. We lodge the connection application for you, and design the system to the export limit the network approves.

Can I get the NSW battery rebate here?

The NSW upfront battery installation incentive has been closed to households since July 2025, so the main discount on a new battery is the federal Cheaper Home Batteries Program, which we apply on your quote. If you sign the battery up to a virtual power plant you can also earn a one-off NSW incentive through the VPP provider.
