Solar and batteries in Bungendore and Braidwood

Bungendore is 55 km from our Mitchell base by road and sits inside our website-price zone. Out towards Captains Flat and Braidwood the blocks get bigger and the power lines get longer, and that changes how a good system is designed.
In short
- Website prices apply in Bungendore and Bywong; for Captains Flat, Braidwood and beyond we confirm the price in writing before you commit.
- Many rural blocks here have single-phase or SWER supply that caps how much a system can export, so we design to the network’s limit.
- Bushfire-prone land shapes where equipment can go. We plan for it at the quote stage, not on installation day.

What we install around Bungendore
- Rooftop solar with Jinko and AIKO panels and GoodWe, Sungrow or Sigenergy inverters
- Home batteries from Sigenergy, Tesla Powerwall 3 and GoodWe, added to new or existing solar
- EV chargers, single-phase or three-phase, set up to charge from your solar
- Heat pump hot water from iStore and Reclaim, replacing old electric or gas units
- Off-grid and backup systems for properties at the end of long lines or beyond the grid
- Commercial solar for sheds, shops, offices and farms
Designing for rural supply
In town, Bungendore homes connect much like Queanbeyan ones. Out past the village and around Braidwood, many properties are on single-phase or SWER (single wire earth return) lines. Those lines limit how much power a system can send back to the grid, sometimes to very little.
Rather than install a big array that spends half the day throttled, we design to the export limit Essential Energy approves and, where it makes sense, pair the system with a battery so more of what you make is used at home. On a long rural line, the same battery can keep the essentials running through an outage.
Bushfire-prone land and bigger blocks
Much of the land between Bungendore, Captains Flat and Braidwood is mapped as bushfire-prone. That affects where we put inverters and batteries, how cables are run and what clearances we keep, so we check the mapping before we design. Where the house roof is small, shaded or faces the wrong way, a ground-mounted array on a larger block can produce more and is easier to keep clean.
Rebates and pricing
Website prices apply as they stand in Bungendore and Bywong. Captains Flat, Braidwood and the localities around them are further out: the prices on this website are for the ACT and within 35 km of Canberra. Out here the same system usually costs about 15–30% more, for travel, time away and the warranty responsibility that comes with distance. We confirm the final price in writing before you commit to anything.
Every NSW home gets the same federal support as Canberra: small-scale technology certificates (STCs) come off the price of solar panels, and the Cheaper Home Batteries Program takes a tiered amount off an approved battery. Both are applied on your quote, so there is nothing to claim afterwards.
NSW’s upfront battery installation incentive has been closed to households since July 2025. What NSW does offer is a one-off incentive when you sign a battery up to a virtual power plant (VPP), and discounts on eligible heat pump hot water through the NSW Energy Savings Scheme. The ACT’s Sustainable Household Scheme loans are for ACT homes only. Our incentives page has the current figures, and your quote shows each discount as its own line.
How a job out here works
- Send us your address, a few photos of your roof and a recent power bill, or use the quote form.
- We design the system from satellite imagery and your photos, and tell you up front how the site visit will be handled. For distant jobs we pair it with other work nearby.
- You get a written, itemised price with every rebate applied before you commit.
- Our own team installs, commissions and registers the system with the network, and stays your point of contact afterwards.

Common questions
Can I get solar on a SWER line?
Usually, yes. SWER lines limit how much a system can export, so we design to the limit the network approves and often add a battery so more of your solar is used at home.
Is a ground-mounted system worth it on a rural block?
Often. If the roof is small, shaded or faces the wrong way, a ground mount can be angled for winter sun and is easy to reach for cleaning. The cable run back to the house is part of the design and the price.
Will a battery keep my power on in an outage?
It can, if it is set up for backup. We agree with you which circuits stay on, such as the fridge, lights, water pump and internet, and size the battery around them.
Can I get the NSW battery rebate here?
The NSW upfront battery installation incentive has been closed to households since July 2025, so the main discount on a new battery is the federal Cheaper Home Batteries Program, which we apply on your quote. If you sign the battery up to a virtual power plant you can also earn a one-off NSW incentive through the VPP provider.
Your next step
Send us your address and a few photos of the roof. We will tell you what your supply allows and come back with a design and an itemised price.
